phoenix in the holyland
Phoenix in the Holy Land is a new play by JuPong Lin that was partially inspired by PeaceBirds. The play strives to transform the agony of witnessing atrocities in Palestine and the surrounding regions into spaces of deep listening and courageous conversations. The play braids together excerpts from the transcripts of South Africa’s genocide case against Israel brought before the ICJ, poetry and the story of three ceasefire activists involved in a small town’s fight to end the assault on Palestinian life.
